About the Church

Our Mission

We are an Episcopal Community of Faith and Worship. We are a people “transformed by God to live and grow as an accepting community that we may take the love of Christ into the world.”

Our Church’s Vision

We are an inclusive and diverse group of Christians who come from a wide variety of backgrounds and are committed to providing a welcoming and nourishing place for all people on their spiritual journey. All are invited to experience the transformative love of God’s Son, made known to us by God’s Holy Spirit, and that leads us deeper into the heart of God the Father and out into the world to make a difference.

Core Values

Grounded in our response to our Baptismal Covenant and the Great Commission, our church passionately holds these values:

To do the work of God

By believing in his Son, Jesus Christ, and following Christ’s teachings; by following God’s call to accept and surrender our lives to Jesus Christ; by making disciples and baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit; by teaching them everything that Jesus has taught us, remembering He is with us always; and by continuing in the Apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…and remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18–20)

To be an Accepting, Inclusive and Respectful Community

By fulfilling our baptismal promises in which we have committed to respect the dignity of every human being, and by taking the love of Christ into the community with compassion, truth, and love.

“…for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” (Isaiah 56:7)

To strive for Justice and Peace among All People

By understanding the roots of injustice within our community and society and discerning how the Gospel calls us to respond; and by exploring the ways in which we as Christians may better discern and live God’s will, that we may be transformed and serve as instruments of God’s peace.

“He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)

To serve Others

By service to others, we share the ultimate gift and expression of Christ’s love. We commit to outreach and service, especially for the poor, homeless, and those marginalized in our community and world; we support the worldwide ministries of the Anglican/Episcopal Church, among them Episcopal Relief & Development; and we extend Christian hospitality, compassion, and a safe place to those in need.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.” (Matthew 25:35–40)

Parish Outreach Ministries: Hot Dog Ministry, Food Card Ministry, A.C.T.I.O.N. Food Pantry, Blessing Bags, St. Martha’s Hospitality Guild, the Rector’s Discretionary Fund, and GLEAM Covina, which reaches out to the LGBTQ+ community.

Community Ministries: Covina Valley Compassion Council, 12-Step Recovery Programs, Options For Learning Toddler Care, and American Red Cross Blood Drives.

To be good Stewards of the Physical and Spiritual Church

By providing for the maintenance of the church and campus to ensure the continuation of ministry in this outpost of God’s grace, by supporting the various ministries and Core Values of the church through regular attendance, pledging, volunteering, and caring for the needs of the church family and community at large.

To be good Stewards of God’s Creation

In Jesus, God so loved the whole world; we follow Jesus, so we love the world God loves. Concerned for the global climate emergency, we commit to form and restore loving, liberating, life-giving relationships with all of Creation — caring for all of God’s creation by preventing what is harmful and participating in Christ’s reconciliation of all creation to God.

“The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.” (Psalm 19:1)
