La Capilla de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe
The home of Holy Trinity’s Latino Ministry — a place of beauty, devotion, and warm welcome.
This sacred chapel was dedicated and blessed under the patronage of Our Lady of Guadalupe — in the name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit — on August 17, 2013. Wherever you are on your journey of faith, all baptized Christians are welcome at the Lord’s Table, and Holy Baptism is offered to all who wish to commit their lives to Christ.
A chapel in the mission tradition
Originally built in 1961, the chapel was lovingly renovated using Mission San Diego de Alcalá as its template — the first of California’s Spanish missions, founded in San Diego in 1769 and often called the “Mother of the Missions.” The retablos (altarpieces) behind the altar were built by Mr. Rogelio Aguillón and painted by Mrs. Kathleen Miller in the style of the San Diego mission. To these we have added elements of our own to honor the people of St. Martha’s Church, who helped bring new life and vitality to our beloved Holy Trinity.
Worship & devotion
La Santa Misa is celebrated in Spanish every Sunday at 12:15 p.m., as well as on special feast days throughout the year. The chapel is a place of quiet prayer and joyful celebration alike.
Celebrations throughout the year
The life of the chapel is marked by the great feasts and traditions of Latino Catholic and Anglican devotion, including:
- The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, with traditional mañanitas and mariachi
- Las Posadas during Advent
- Altars and ofrendas for El Día de los Muertos
- Fiestas marking the independence days of the Hispano-American countries
El Gremio de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe
Members and friends who worship at the 12:15 Misa and who delight in the many fiestas of the church have formed an advisory guild — El Gremio de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe — which plans many of the chapel’s activities and celebrations.
